Transportation Laws
School Bus Stopping Law - All school buses are equipped with "8-way" flashing lights which are yellow and red in color. Yellow flashing lights indicate that motorists should slow down in anticipation of the bus stopping. When the bus stops and students are either getting on or off the bus, the red flashing lights activate. All traffic must stop including at four-way intersections.
School Zone - This law restricts the speed limit of traffic to 15 mph in a marked school zone.
Divided Highway - When a physical barrier exists separating the lanes of traffic, only those vehicles traveling in the same direction/same side of the road must stop. Opposing traffic separated by a barrier does not have to stop.
