Title I is a Federally funded program that provides financial assistance to improve educational opportunities for students. The amount of federal money our district receives under Title I, Part A is based on the number of free and reduced lunches provided throughout the district. The income of our families is protected information according to privacy laws. The information families provide regarding income is NOT shared with school staff or made public. 

 Title I programs are designed to support children in meeting state content and performance standards. School districts have the option to implement targeted assistance or schoolwide Title I programs. We are excited to announce that our Title I elementary schools have transitioned from targeted assistance to schoolwide programming.. 

A schoolwide program enables us to serve all students in the building with Title I resources; whereas the targeted assistance model limits the population of students who can benefit from Title I services.  We have worked hard to build a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) in each elementary school so that every student receives the interventions that s/he needs. As our MTSS program becomes more robust, it makes sense to shift our focus from targeted assistance (identifying and helping only the students in most need) to schoolwide programming (identifying, tiering, and helping all students).  

The purpose of a Title I schoolwide program is to generate high levels of academic achievement in core subject areas for all students, especially those most in need.

This is achieved through:

• High quality instruction and evidence-based, tiered interventions.

• Professional development on strategies and methods that improve teacher effectiveness.
